H. Shala: request to travel to Albania denied, renewal of documents granted

On 23 June 2026, President Trendafilova denied a request by Haxhi Shala to travel to Albania for a short holiday while serving the remainder of his sentence under conditions imposed following his release to Kosovo. The President found, inter alia, that such travel was fundamentally incompatible with the sentence imposed and that the conditional release is not meant to be interrupted absent compelling legal or humanitarian grounds. At the same time, the President granted his request to renew his identification and travel documents.
 
As announced earlier, H. Shala was granted conditional release on 2 February 2026, while his sentence will be completed on 11 December 2026.
