Thaçi et al. war crimes case: Panel denies request for additional detention measures

On 10 October 2025, a public redacted version of the Trial Panel’s decision on the SPO’s second request to modify the detention conditions of Hashim Thaçi was issued.

The Panel dismissed the request, concluding that prohibiting certain individuals from visiting Thaçi was neither necessary nor proportionate. For the same reasons, it also rejected the second proposed measure—to prohibit Thaçi from discussing matters related to the separate case against him (KSC-BC-2023-12) during non-privileged visits. With respect to this second measure, the Panel recalled that the same issue had already been addressed by the Pre-Trial Judge in that case, who had previously rejected such restrictions (see our earlier post on that decision).
