Today, 14 March 2018, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) made public the Lists of Counsel for representation of suspects, accused and victims or any other person who is entitled to legal representation, in accordance with the Law establishing the KSC and the Directive on Counsel.

The Lists contain the names of 40 legal practitioners who have been admitted to the Lists of Counsel and who are now thus eligible to appear before the KSC to represent suspects, accused, a group of victims or any other person who is entitled to legal representation.

On this occasion, the President of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, Judge Ekaterina Trendafilova stated: “I congratulate all Counsel who have thus far been admitted to the Lists of Counsel. The stringent requirements for the admission to the Lists of Counsel ensure that defendants and victims will be able to receive effective and professional legal representation before the KSC. This will further contribute to the integrity of the administration of justice by the Specialist Chambers.”

Since November 2017, the Defence Office and the Victims’ Participation Office have received numerous applications. The review of applications and the process for admission of Counsel has been systematically conducted equally for all candidates in accordance with the Directive on Counsel and requirements for admission set in that document. All Counsel admitted so far are listed in the table available on the KSC website.

These Lists of Counsel will be constantly updated and more applicants will be admitted as the review process continues. Thus, the process remains open.

The details for admission can be found in the Guide for Applicants.
