    Mustafa trial: Victim’s Counsel/victim 05 addressing the court

    Victim’s Counsel is currently making her submissions in the Mustafa trial. After that, victim 05 will present his views and concerns before the Panel (which will be conducted mostly in private session).

    Gucati&Haradinaj: closing statements completed

    SPO presented its submissions on the sentencing for Gucati and Haradinaj seeking the conviction on all counts whereas the Defence sought acquittals for both accused, who also addressed the court today. The closing statements in this case are completed, which marks the end of this trial. The Panel will render its judgment in due course. The hearing scheduled for tomorrow, 18 March, is cancelled.

    Gucati&Haradinaj: the panel admits additional evidence re. sentencing

    The Panel in the Gucati&Haradinaj case reopened the proceedings for the sole purpose of admitting certain statements submitted by the Defence. These are a number of witness statements the Panel decided to admit under Rule 153 of the Rules for the exclusive purpose of sentencing, should the Panel enter a conviction on any of the counts of the Indictment.

    KSC Weekly Press Briefing on 17 March

    Another KSC weekly press briefing will take place on Thursday, 17 March, at 14:30. During this briefing, the KSC Spokespersons will provide a short update on the latest developments in the judicial proceedings before the KSC, as well as on other public activities of the Court. Journalists will have the opportunity to ask questions. Pre-registration is required to attend each briefing. To pre-register, please send an email with name and affiliation to [email protected]. Deadline for pre-registration is every Thursday at 12:00. The Zoom details will be shared following pre-registration. Recordings of the update provided during the Weekly Press Briefings will be made available on the KSC YouTube Channel.

    Gucati&Haradinaj: Parties begin with closing statements

    SPO is making its closing statement in the Gucati&Haradinaj trial today. Subsequently, the Defence teams are expected to present their closing statements tomorrow, Tuesday, (15 March) and Wednesday (16 March), followed by the responses as well as the SPO submissions on sentencing on 17 March. Finally, the Defence’s submissions on sentencing and the statements of the accused should take place on 18 March. The panel may put questions to the parties at any time during their submissions.

    Mustafa: a victim addresses the court on 21 March, Defence case starts on 22 March

    At the end of the hearing in the Mustafa case today, the Trial Panel issued a number of oral orders setting, inter alia, Tuesday, 22 March, as the date for the Defence's opening statement, followed by 23 March, when the testimony of the Defence's first witness will commence. The Defence was allocated a total of 36 hours for direct examination of its 17 witnesses authorized to testify.

    Following a request of the Victim's Counsel, victim 05 is allowed to present his views and concerns before the Panel on Monday, 21 March for 1 hour. The Victim's Counsel will also be allowed to make submissions before and/or after victim 05 has presented his concerns for a total of 1 hour.

    As per another request of the Victim's Counsel, the Panel appointed the Dutch Forensic Institute to assess the medical condition as well as the damages or injuries suffered by three victims and to prepare a report, which is to be submitted by 13 May 2022. The Panel specified that this decision is without prejudice to the final determination of the Panel as to the guilt or innocence of the accused and to any reparation order that may stem therefrom.
