    Constitutional Court Panel assigned to deal with new Shala’s referral

    Following the referral by the Defence of Pjetër Shala, on 10 July 2023, Judges Vidar Stensland, Roumen Nenkov and Romina Incutti have been assigned as members of the Constitutional Court panel to decide on this referral relating to alleged violations of the accused’s fundamental rights.     Summer court recess until 11 August 2023

    As announced in our Calendar, the summer court recess at the KSC begins on Monday, 24 July and ends on 11 August 2023. During this period, no hearings are held and some non-essential services are reduced to a minimum. However, the court remains fully functional during this period and work continues across all sections of the KSC. Filings are possible during the recess and, unless otherwise ordered by the judges, judicial deadlines continue running.

    Thaçi et al. trial adjourned for the week/resumes after the summer recess

    Following the completion of the testimony of witness W04586, the trial in the case of Thaçi, Veseli, Selimi and Krasniqi adjourned for the week. The trial will resume on 14 August 2023.

    KSC Weekly Press Briefing on 20 July

    Another KSC weekly press briefing will take place on Thursday, 20 July, at 14:30. During this briefing, the KSC Spokespersons will provide a short update on the latest developments in the judicial proceedings before the KSC, as well as on other public activities of the Court. Journalists will have the opportunity to ask questions. Pre-registration is required to attend each briefing. To pre-register, please send an email with name and affiliation to [email protected]. Deadline for pre-registration is every Thursday at 12:00. The Zoom details will be shared following pre-registration. Recordings of the update provided during the Weekly Press Briefings will be made available on the KSC YouTube Channel.

    New SPO witness testifying in the Thaçi et al. trial

    The 15th SPO witness is a protected witness W04586, who is testifying about the death of his family member during the relevant period. The testimony of this witness is conducted via video-link.

    Former KLA Commander of the Llap Operational Zone Rrustem Mustafa completed his testimony today. The next Prosecution’s witness is Francis Ledwidge, a British Army officer serving in Kosovo during the relevant period.
