The Defence of Hysni Gucati begins its presentation of evidence today. Its first witness is the accused Gucati.

As announced in our Court Calendar, next Status Conference in the case against Thaci, Veseli, Selimi and Krasniqi is scheduled for Wednesday, 15 December, at 14:30. More details in the scheduling order.

Hysni Gucati’s Defence completed its opening statement. The hearing is adjourned for today and the trial will resume on Monday, 6 December, with the testimony of the first Gucati Defence witness (the accused Gucati).

The Defence case in the Gucati&Haradinaj trial has commenced with the opening statement by Gucati’s Defence.

At the end of the Defence preparation conference in the Gucati&Haradinaj case today, Trial Panel II issued a number of oral orders deciding, inter alia, that the Defence case will start tomorrow (3 December) with the opening statement of Gucati's Defence, followed by their presentation of evidence on 6 December. Haradinaj's Defence case will commence after the end of the Gucati's Defence case. The Panel set 17 January 2022 as the target date for the closure of the Defence cases and 1 March 2022 for the end of the evidentiary part of the whole case.

After the break, the defence preparation conference in the Gucati&Haradinaj case will resume at 12:00 (or at 12:45 in the delayed feed).

Another KSC weekly press briefing will take place on Thursday, 2 December, at 14:30. During this briefing, the KSC Spokespersons will provide a short update on the latest developments in the judicial proceedings before the KSC, as well as on other public activities of the Court. Trial Panel II issued the agenda for the Defence preparation conference in the Gucati&Haradinaj case, which will take place tomorrow, 2 December, and potentially on 3 December as well (a reserve day).

The Trial Panel in the Gucati&Haradinaj case today denied the motions, filed by both Defence teams, to dismiss the charges against the accused, pursuant to Rule 130 of the KSC Rules of Procedure and Evidence. The decision is available here.
