    Biography

    Judge Marjorie Masselot (France) has been serving as a Presiding Judge at the Colmar First Instance Criminal Court since 2019, where she is dealing with organised crime and sexual crimes. Since 2023, Judge Masselot has been serving as a seconded Judge in the Ministry of Justice of France as a Deputy Head of the Office for Institutional and Diplomatic Affairs at the Delegation for European and International Affairs. From 2017 to 2019, Judge Masselot served as a prosecutor at the Criminal Court of Verdun. Prior to that, Judge Masselot served in various legal officer positions at the War Crimes Chamber of the State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2006 to 2008, at the United Nations Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda from 2008 to 2009 and at the International Criminal Court from 2009 to 2015. Judge Masselot holds three post-graduated Master degrees in Law from the Law University of Aix-en-Provence and the University of Strasbourg. She has further published and lectured in the field of international criminal law.

    Biography

    After graduation from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in 1978, Judge Hofmański started his academic career as an assistant in the Chair of the Criminal Procedure Law at this University.  After completing PhD studies in Toruń (1981), he started as adjunct at the Chair of Criminal Procedure Law at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Judge Hofmański completed his second degree (habilitation) in 1989 and was appointed Professor at the Chair of Criminal Law of the University of Białystok. From 2000 to 2015, he was a Professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, where he ran the Chair of Criminal Procedure Law. He started his judicial career in 1994 as a judge of the Appellate Court in Białystok and was thereafter appointed a Judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Polish Supreme Court in 1996. Judge Hofmański was involved in a number of projects carried out by the Council of Europe.

    Judge Hofmański was a Judge at the International Criminal Court from March 2015 until March 2024, where he served as Presiding Judge of the Appeals Chamber and as President of the International Criminal Court from 2021 to 2024. Judge Hofmański is currently a Director of the newly created Center of International Criminal Justice at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.

    Judge Hofmański is an author of more than 300 books, commentaries, articles on constitutional law, criminal law, criminal procedure, international cooperation in criminal matters and human rights protection.

    Biography

    Judge Christopher Gosnell (Canada) has practiced international criminal law for more than twenty years in various roles, including as counsel for the defence, victims, and prosecution. He defended accused in several high-profile cases before international courts and tribunals, including the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. He has also served as a Senior Legal Officer for UN criminal investigation entities, primarily the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar from 2021 to 2024. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and, between 2003 and 2006, was a Legal Officer in Chambers at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. 
     
    Judge Gosnell holds a B.A. in Jurisprudence from Oxford University (UK), an LL.B. from McGill University (Canada), and an LL.M. from Columbia Law School (US).
