As part of its mandate to ensure fair and secure proceedings, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers guarantees the fundamental rights of defence and victims. Defence and victims’ participation require competent counsel.

Upon approval of the President, Judge Ekaterina Trendafilova, following consultations with the Judges, the Registrar Dr Fidelma Donlon has adopted today the Directive on Counsel, which enters into force on the day of its publication on the Specialist Chambers’ website.

The Directive on Counsel establishes the requirements for admission to a List of Counsel. Only Counsel meeting the requirements for a List of Counsel may be appointed or assigned by the Registrar to represent a suspect, an accused or a group of victims.

As of today, the admission process to a List of Counsel is therefore open. Applications for inclusion on:

- The List of Specialist Counsel – should be sent to the Defence Office of the Registry of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers at [email protected].

- The List of Victims’ Counsel – should be sent to the Victims’ Participation Office of the Registry of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers at [email protected].

The Application Form and Guidelines for applicants for the List of Counsel are available on the website.
